ACoS, TACoS & Bid Strategy Explained
ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sale) = Ad Spend / Ad Revenue × 100. A 25% ACoS means you spend $0.25 in ads for every $1 of ad-attributed revenue.
Max CPC Formula: Max CPC = (Target ACoS / 100) × CVR% / 100 × AOV. This is the highest you can bid and still hit your target ACoS.
Break-even ACoS equals your gross margin percentage. Anything below break-even is profitable; anything above is a loss on ad-driven sales.
TACoS (Total ACoS) = Total Ad Spend / Total Revenue (including organic). As organic sales grow, TACoS falls even when ACoS stays constant — a sign of healthy brand momentum.
Bid strategy: Start bids at 50–75% of your max CPC to gather data, then scale up profitable keywords and reduce bids on poor performers.
