About the Waste Factor
A 5% waste factor is included in all calculations. This accounts for wax left on the sides of the melting pot, surface dimples that require a second pour, and small measurement errors. In practice, your actual yield may vary slightly.
The wax-to-container formula: net wax per candle = container oz × 0.86 (wax density), then divide available wax by that value. The wax you buy should include the 5% buffer.
