How Proportion Planning Works

Color proportion planning lets you decide how much visual weight each fabric carries in your quilt. A dominant fabric at 50% will define the quilt's overall color story, while accent fabrics at 10โ€“15% add interest without competing. A common quilter's rule of thumb is 60-30-10: 60% dominant, 30% secondary, 10% accent.

Yardage is calculated assuming 44" usable fabric width. A 10% buffer is included for cutting waste, pre-wash shrinkage, and re-cuts. Always buy a little extra for your first cut of a new fabric.
