Planning Your Granny Square Blanket
Granny squares are typically worked in rounds and blocked after completion. Always block your squares before joining — this evens out the shape and makes joining much easier. Your finished square size after blocking should match the size you enter above.
Yarn estimates here assume standard worsted weight yarn (~200 yards/100g) and a classic 4-round granny square. Larger squares, denser stitch patterns, or heavier yarn will use more. Add 10–15% extra to your yardage estimate for safety.
For multi-color blankets, consider whether your squares use a single color throughout or multiple colors per square. If each square uses multiple colors, the per-color estimates above assume colors are used in equal proportions across all squares.
