About Kitchen Measurements

US volume measurements differ from metric and UK standards. A US cup is 236.6 ml, while a UK cup is 250 ml. These conversions use the US standard system.

Temperature conversions: °C to °F — multiply by 9/5 then add 32. Gas Mark is a UK oven temperature scale where Gas Mark 1 ≈ 275°F (135°C). Fan ovens typically run 15–20°C cooler than conventional settings.

When converting between volume and weight, always use an ingredient-specific density since different ingredients weigh different amounts per cup. Use the Recipe Unit Converter for those conversions.
