What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is dummy text used in graphic design, publishing, and web development since the 1500s. It approximates the letter frequency of English, making layouts look natural without readable content distracting reviewers.

It originates from De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum by Cicero, written in 45 BC. The standard passage beginning "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" has been in use since the 1960s.
