METAR Field Reference

📡 METAR (Meteorological Aerodrome Report) is an hourly weather observation used by pilots and air traffic control worldwide. SPECI is a special observation issued when conditions change significantly between regular reports.
💨 Wind: 27015KT = wind from 270° (west) at 15 knots. 27015G25KT = gusting to 25 knots. VRB03KT = variable direction below 3 knots.
☁️ Cloud: FEW (1–2 oktas), SCT/Scattered (3–4), BKN/Broken (5–7), OVC/Overcast (8). Height in hundreds of feet above aerodrome — BKN025 = broken cloud at 2,500ft.
🌡️ Temperature/Dewpoint: 14/08 = temp 14°C, dewpoint 8°C. M02/M05 = minus (below zero). The closer temp and dewpoint, the higher the relative humidity and risk of fog/cloud formation.
🔵 Pressure: Q1014 = QNH 1014 hPa (hectopascals, used internationally). A2998 = altimeter setting 29.98 inHg (used in USA/Canada). Standard pressure = 1013.25 hPa / 29.92 inHg.
