How to Convert Oven Temperatures
The formula for Fahrenheit to Celsius is (°F − 32) × 5/9. Going the other way: (°C × 9/5) + 32. Gas Mark is a UK/Irish system where each mark represents approximately 25°F (14°C) above the previous one, starting at Gas Mark 1 = 275°F (135°C).
Fan ovens (convection ovens) circulate hot air, cooking food faster and more evenly. As a rule, reduce your regular oven temperature by 25°F (15°C) or one Gas Mark when using the fan setting. Some ovens recommend reducing cook time by 10–15% instead.
Broil/Grill mode runs the top heating element at maximum heat — typically 500–550°F (260–288°C). It is not equivalent to a baking temperature and is used for browning and crisping the surface of food.
