Phone Storage Calculator
Find out how much storage you actually need — and how long until you run out.
How Storage Estimates Are Calculated
A typical 12 MP smartphone photo in HEIC or JPEG format averages around 4 MB. RAW files can be 10–25 MB, so if you shoot RAW, multiply your photo count accordingly.
Video file size depends heavily on resolution and frame rate. A minute of 1080p / 30fps footage takes roughly 130 MB, while 4K / 30fps averages 375 MB per minute. HDR and 60fps footage will be larger.
The years until full estimate assumes your storage needs grow by approximately 20% per year — a conservative figure based on average smartphone usage growth trends. Your actual growth will vary based on how much you shoot, download, and stream.
Always leave at least 10–15% free space on your device. iOS and Android both use free storage for OS operations, app caches, and system updates. Running below that threshold can slow down your phone noticeably.
