🔆 Storage Orientation Guide
📅

โœ… Vertical Storage (Correct)

Store records upright, like books. Each record supports itself. No pressure on grooves. Records maintain their shape over decades. Sleeve artwork preserved.

📈

โŒ Horizontal Stacking (Avoid)

Stacking records flat causes warping from weight, especially in warm conditions. Bottom records bow under pressure. Even a few records will distort over months.

Don't overfill: Records packed too tightly will lean and warp. Records that can flop around will also warp. Aim for a snug-but-moveable fit โ€” you should be able to flip through them easily without force.
🌞 Environmental Storage Guide
🌦

Temperature

Ideal: 15โ€“21ยฐC (59โ€“70ยฐF). Avoid locations near radiators, boilers, or exterior walls. Heat accelerates vinyl off-gassing and warping.

💧

Humidity

Ideal: 45โ€“50% RH. Too dry causes static buildup. Too humid promotes mould on labels and inner sleeves. Use a hygrometer in your storage room.

UV & Light

Avoid direct sunlight. UV light fades labels, bleaches sleeves, and can soften vinyl. Store away from windows or use UV-filtering blinds.

📷

Sleeves

Use HDPE or polyethylene inner sleeves โ€” never original paper sleeves alone. Paper sleeves cause fine scratches over time. Outer poly sleeves protect artwork.

💨

Air Quality

Avoid storing in garages or basements prone to damp or dust. Mould spores and dust settle in grooves. Even sealed boxes accumulate contaminants over time.

Static

Vinyl is naturally electrostatically charged. Anti-static inner sleeves reduce dust attraction. A record brush and anti-static gun help before each play.
