How Grout & Adhesive Quantities Are Calculated
Grout (kg): Grout quantity depends on the perimeter of each tile, joint width, joint depth (approx. 2/3 of tile thickness), and the grout density (~1.7 kg/L). Smaller tiles have more joints per m² and need more grout.
Adhesive (kg): Adhesive coverage varies by tile size and surface type. Large format tiles (>60cm) need a full bed of adhesive and use significantly more. Typical standard tile adhesive covers 4–5 kg/m².
Always check the manufacturer's data sheet for exact coverage figures. Adhesive consumption increases if back-buttering large format tiles, which is often required.
