Always Do Test Burns

Wick recommendations are starting points. Every combination of wax, fragrance, container, and colorant burns differently. Order at least 3 sizes of each series and do a proper test burn before committing to a full batch.

The 4-Hour Test Rule: Burn a test candle for 4 hours on the first burn. A healthy melt pool should reach edge-to-edge (full diameter) within 4 hours without the flame exceeding 1 inch in height or producing black soot on the jar.

When to Size Up

Increase one size when: your fragrance load is above 8%, you're using dark colorants, or you're using a denser wax like beeswax or a hard paraffin blend. Colorants add resistance to the wick and can cause it to mushroom or self-extinguish.
